Victorian Niello Star Locket vintage hatpins Deadstock & in perfect conditionFabulous and unique, this late 19th century niello locket was made using a process that goes back centuries and usually involves a mixture of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur, resulting in a metallic grey finish. The niello was applied to a sterling silver base (the locket) and inlaid with a gold celestial star design. It hangs on a sterling silver rolo or belcher chain. Both pieces are unmarked but test as silver. Inside the locket there are two old
